This album was written as short 'stings' for an evening of Shakespeare. The stings were lengthened and soon became the album above. It is very different to my usual work yet has sold more copies than any of the others.

My Mates In Crates

As with Compulsive Reaction, I looked at reviving some old tunes and also added some new ones. The title came from my stock reply as to why, at the time, I appeared solo on stage. "I don't", I'd say, "My mates arrive on stage with me, in crates." It was the constant bickering and in-band politics that drove me to go solo in the early days.
When The Jester Takes A Fool

With the benefit of a large studio area (thanks to a local theatre where I was Control Room Manager) I was able to really indulge in the writing and production of this completely new work. (all bar one track) I was also fortunate to have plenty of friends to call upon for backing vocals. Many have viewed this as my finest album.

Following immediately on from 'Jester' I commenced work on this album but due to many moves and personal troubles, this album took almost 8 years to complete! I draws heavily on both my spiritual beliefs and was also a reflection on situations around my physical life. The recordings, with the exception of 'My Love' were completed early but final production was not completed until 2002.

Hugs Unlimited was a working title for Linda and my first ever duo performance. Linda played the role of Claire Torry (Great Gig In The Sky) in Pink Fraud but left the band in 2000.

It all started as a way to wind up friends and new acquaintances. From the rantings and verbal abuse of pot-crazed youths we slid neatly into song writing, taking our insults to a wider audience. These are some that we decided to have professionally recorded.

And so it was that through my work with a youth club recording studio, that I met Red Letter Day. I was so impressed with their music, enthusiasm and charisma that I offered them management. We actually had 2 labels asking about them and a lot of media interest but what happened next is another story. Here is one track I engineered for them.
